San Isidro. 15th May

A tradition in Soto del Real involves celebrating the day of San Isidro, the patron saint of livestock breeders, on May 15th.

The celebration starts with a mass in honour of San Isidro in the Church of the Immaculate Conception. This is followed by a procession accompanying the image of Saint San Isidro through several streets of the town as far as the Parque del Río (River Park), where the parish priest blesses the fields. Then, in the Parque del Río, bollos preñaós (a type of bun with a chorizo sausage inside) and sangria are given out free. People can enjoy this tasty treat, accompanied by the music of a dulzaina (a type of clarinet) and a tamboril (a small drum).
