La agrupación nace como un proyecto formativo en clave de excelencia y hoy se reconoce como una de las orquestas de cámara más prominentes y prometedoras en nuestro país. Actualmente la orquesta se reconoce como semiprofesional pues un 40% de sus miembros han finalizado sus estudios superiores y comienzan su andadura como esa primera generación de profesionales de la orquesta. El 60% se encuentra realizando estudios de master o últimos cursos de grado superior en prestigiosas escuelas superiores o conservatorios nacionales y extranjeros\, de reconocido prestigio. \nDesde sus primeros pasos\, la orquesta ha brillado con luz propia y se ha caracterizado por una extraordinaria calidad. Ha desarrollado una intensa actividad actuando en salas como el Auditorio Nacional de Música\, Auditorio de Zaragoza\, El Festival Las Piedras Cantan\, Festival Noches del Infantado de Guadalajara\, Festival Música Con Gusto Segovia\, Auditorio Caja de Ávila y La Sierra MusicFest\, el nuevo festival de música clásica organizado por los municipios serranos de El Boalo\, Manzanares  el Real y Soto del Real. \nLa Atlántida destaca por su personalidad musical\, su calidad y virtuosismo convirtiéndose en una de las orquestas jóvenes más destacadas de la actualidad musical. Actualmente tienen la residencia artística en Soto del Real. \nSu director\, Manuel Tévar\, es también pianista y compositor. Es considerado uno de los músicos españoles más completos y con más proyección internacional de su generación y ha recibido varios premios\, como el Premio de la Real Academia de Bellas Artes\, el Premio Fundación Guerrero o el Premi Fundació Amics del Liceu.
