SUMMARY:HOMENAJE A PHYLLIS TURNBULL
DESCRIPTION:Proyección del documental La improbable vida de Phyllis Turnbull. De Corning a Chozas .\nENTRADA LIBRE HASTA COMPLETAR AFORO. \n \nTras la proyección del documental habrá un coloquio con Jose Huedo (director)\,  Antonio Sanz (productor) y Pilar Piñón (Instituto Internacional)\n \nPhyllis Burrows Turnbull (1924-1971) profesora titular del Departamento de Español de Bryn Mawr College (EE.UU.)\, fue directora del Instituto Internacional (1955-58) y creadora en Madrid en 1965 del prestigioso “Centro de Estudios Hispánicos” de Bryn Mawr College \, de amplia repercusión en la formación de notables hispanistas. “Miss Fillis”\, como era conocida en España\, además creó y financió la primera biblioteca infantil del Instituto Internacional.\n \nEstrechamente ligada a España\, fue también la benefactora de varias familias del pueblo madrileño de Chozas de la Sierra (actualmente Soto del Real)\, donde en los años noventa se le dedicó una calle. Allí becó a varios niños y niñas para que pudieran estudiar tanto en España como en los Estados Unidos.\n \nEl documental La improbable vida de Phyllis Turnbull. De Corning a Chozas es el homenaje a esta increíble mujer de aquellos niños becados de Chozas.
